It deconstructed garments into new forms. While the fabrics torn, frayed edges and defaced prints are now considered normal in the 21st century, in the 1970's that surprised many people because you never seen before. Until then, the fabric had been treated as a material to keep as pristine, as new and beautiful as possible.

Trousers were deliberately torn to reveal stockings legs staggered and dirty. Were used with great DocMartens footwear, a utilitarian, practical traffic meter type cleaning shoes at the time, not seen in many young women before. Safety pins and chains out pieces of fabric. Neck chains were made from padlocks and chains, and even razor blades were used as pendants. The latter emerged as a status symbol stream of fashion a few years later, when I worked in gold.
